As many of you know inspiration can be everywhere. It can be in a song you listen to, a book you read, a tweet, a Instagram post, or even on a t-shirt you read. Inspiration is literally everywhere. But I’m sure that there is someplace that we all look to for inspiration and I would like to know what that place is for you.
For me I tend to look for inspiration a lot on social media. I look at what people are tweeting about, posting on Instagram, or even pinning on Pinterest. Sometimes the most simplest things can help you strike some inspiration. Many time what this inspiration causes in me is sometimes a YouTube video to post, a blog to write, or even just an activity I would like to do at home.
Another place I look to is Youtube. Although I think youtube is something that ends up finding me more so than me looking for it. Sometimes I video pops up that really inspires me or I find a youtuber that is inspiring. It really just depends on the day.

I know that everywhere you look there are always people, quotes, and everything in between telling you to stay positive. I also know that staying positive can be very difficult especially when things just aren’t going right. Trust me I definitely know this feelings but I do have some little tricks I use to try and stay positive.
Think of something exciting: It can be anything that’s happening that day, that week, or that month. It can be anything that I truly can’t wait for. Usually this takes my mind off of what is making me sad or upset for at least a little while.
Stay off social media: I notice that sometimes the feelings of negativity I have stem from social media. I start to scroll through pictures on Facebook and Instagram which starts the comparison game. I know that it’s difficult to not be on social media but try using an app that makes you happy such as playing a game or if you can try doing something that doesn’t require your phone like reading a book, writing, or anything else that you love.
Journal: Speaking of writing, one of the things I definitely do everyday is journal. I journal in the mornings before I start my day and I also journal at night. The reason why I journal is to set my intention for the day and also so that I can get any unwanted feelings or thoughts out of my head and on paper. It can definitely be a soothing and wonderful thing. If you like I can use a blog post dedicated to my journaling habits.
Spend time with people: Now when I mean spend time with people I mean spend time with people that inspire you. These people help to lift you up and they also make you feel at ease with who you are. I know for me I definitely have these people that I turn to. Even if you can’t spend time with them in person maybe you can talk to them on the phone or send them a text. Also feel free to let them know how you’re feeling. Usually talking to someone else can also help you put things in perspective and help you love/like yourself again. This can also be helpful if your not one for journaling.
Those are just some of the things I do to try and stay positive and I hope that these things help you. Also one thing I want to make sure I add is that I’m not saying that you should ever brush aside your feelings. I’m just trying to give helpful tips that I use to get you out of that slump. But it’s okay to feel these feelings and your feelings are valid. So if you have a day where you just feel sad it’s okay to feel that.

So just last week I happened to read an article written by The Verge that talked about a unreleased feature from Instagram that would’ve hidden likes. The only person that would be able to view how many likes a post got would be the original poster.
The meaning of this feature was so that followers focused on the content you posted and not how many likes a post got.
Well after reading this article it got me thinking about how the platform would be very different if this feature existed. I feel like if this feature was around it would greatly reduce the comparison issue to some extent. I feel like so many of us focus on how many likes a picture we post gets compared to our friends that it makes us very careful of what we post for fear of it not getting a lot of likes.
Also I wonder if it would have a impact on how many people would have actually been discovered as influencers because of this feature. As many of us know a lot of brands look at which people have a lot of followers or likes on pictures and use this to their advantage when it comes to brand deals and things like that. Well what would it be like if you couldn’t see how many likes someone’s picture got? I think a lot of brands would not use Instagram as a platform for pushing a product so much and many Instagram models may no longer have a job.
I know many of y’all are probably thinking well what about followers we would still see that count. That is true but I feel like it would be unlikely to tell if these are legit followers or followers this person may have bought.
Overall if this feature existed I feel like Instagram would be a very very different platform. But to be honest I kind of wish that it existed. I wish that it was a feature that you could turn on or off.

So this past week I watched a movie on Netflix called Social Animals. This movie was actually about 3 teenagers and their different experience when it came to social media. One kid uses his Instagram for photography and actually got pretty famous for it, another girl is trying to be an aspiring model, and the last girl it seems it just trying to survive in this world with social media.
It was honestly a very interesting movie to watch and actually seemed to be one of the realer documentaries that I’ve watched about social media. This is because it also showed the downsides to social media such as the bullying, people asking for nudes, also the issues with FOMO, and “social media rules”.
It made me think about how I use social media in my everyday life and what I should do differently. I definitely recommend checking out this movie since it was pretty interesting. If you are interested in watching it then it is available on Netflix and is about a little over an hour long.

Now I decided to title this blog post as seeking validation because I realized that was what I was seeking when it came to Instagram. I was seeking to raise my Instagram followers to validate for myself that I was doing better than another individual. Who actually didn’t know we were in this insane competition. I would constantly check where their followers were and would hope that mine got higher than this individuals.
It wasn’t until speaking with my co-worker about one of her friends who is seeking the same thing that I realized what I was doing. I was able to look inside myself and ask myself what was I doing. I realized that I was being so stupid and those followers are just a number. Half of these people I don’t even know and probably will never talk to.
I realized that we all seek validation for different reasons but then I realized that that validation isn’t going to make anything better. We are going to continue to want more and more just to make ourselves feel better. We have to seek that validation through ourselves and not other people.
This is why I’m trying to do more self-love this year. This is why I’m trying to not use social media as much or take it as seriously. I’m trying to keep my focus on producing YouTube videos and helping others because I realize that those things make me happy. Those things make me feel good and the best thing is that I don’t want anything back.
So do you think that you seek validation? If so do you know why you seek it? Are you going to change that? Those are the questions you should ask yourself. If your someone who doesn’t seek validation then I can say I which I was like you and I want to know you secret haha.

Happy Monday everyone! I know I usually do a video on Mondays but I was able to record so I’m doing a blog post instead. As many of you know I’m continuing on this self-confidence journey and this time I’m adding on Facebook when it comes to limiting social media.
In some ways I honestly think that Facebook may be harder than Instagram and this is because not only do you scroll but people post articles that get you sucked in. Well I know I get sucked in and end up spending more time on there then I wanted to.
As for my Instagram limit I’ve actually been doing pretty well although one day I did go over the limit by a lot. But this was mostly due to the fact that I had an issue to take care of on there. But on a good note I went down like 15% when it came to my total usage so I’m very happy about that. But overall I’m excited about the progress that I’ve made.
So let’s see what happens this week and I know that I’ll be able to succeed. Also feel free to comment down below on your ideas or thoughts on what I’m doing.
